Founded in 1964, MOFLOR is engaged in forestry and wood
processing, in central Mozambique, Sofala and Manica
provinces.
These activities include:
- 4 Eucalyptus plantations of the Grandis/Saligna and Cloezeana
varieties, for a total area of 2300 ha (Bengo, Gondola, Tiquetique
and Bandula), in Manica province.
- 4 concessions to harvest native forest (Derunde 1, Derunde
2, Macuacua and Nhamacuenguere) in a total area of about 41 000
ha
- 2 processing units: Two sawmills in Derunde and Dondo, and a
plant for treating wood using creosote in Dondo (the only one in
operation in Mozambique).
MOFLOR has focused its activity on producing railway sleepers in
messassa and eucalyptus, and producing poles for power and
communication lines - both produced using creosote treatment - with
a substantial proportion of sales intended for overseas
markets.
Moflor also has ongoing development plans to widen its range with
higher-added-value products, such as tables, fences and outdoor
furniture.
